While freshet flooding is the current focus in some parts of the province, increasing temperatures are making wildfires an emerging threat in other regions.
During Emergency Preparedness Week, British Columbians are reminded to begin planning now for the summer wildfire season.

The North Central Local Government Association (NCLGA) announced today the Spinal Cord Injury British Columbia (formerly BC Paraplegic Association) is the 2012 winner of the Measuring Up The North Award of Excellence for populations over 5,000. The District of 100 Mile House was the recipient in the category under 5,000.
Recently the Spinal Cord Injury British Columbia (SCI BC) office in Prince George opened a one-of-a-kind Resource Centre. Northern BC residents who have a spinal cord injury or related physical disability and their families now have a place to go for information and advice, with peer support from people who have experience with spinal cord injuries.
100 Mile House RCMP weekly updates to April 30, 2012
Sometime overnight on April 25-25, unknown culprits cut the chain link fence around the Kal Tire compound on Taylor in 100 Mile House and stole a number of heavy truck tires. Police are looking for witnesses who may have observed a one ton pick-up truck with dual rear tires that may have been seen in this area overnight. The value of loss is estimated to be approximately $3,000.
On April 26, 100 Mile House Traffic Services stopped a Nissan Micra in relation to a driving complaint that had been received the previous day. The male driver displayed symptoms of having consumed liquor and there was open liquor in the vehicle. The driver failed an approved screening device which was administered road side, and was returned to the 100 Mile House RCMP detachment where two breath samples of 160% mg were obtained. Charges of Impaired Driving and Driving Over The Legal Limit are being recommended to Crown against a 56 year old male resident of 100 Mile House.

100 Mile House RCMP responded to 56 complaints and calls for service. Some of the highlights are below.
On April 20, 100 Mile House RCMP Traffic Services observed a blue Honda traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 97 south of 100 Mile House. The vehicle was checked on radar and it was determined to be operated at 49 kph over the posted limit. The vehicle was stopped and the female driver from Summerland was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed. The vehicle was impounded and towed.
Commercial Vehicle Safety Officer involved in crash near Lac La Hache
On April 12, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a report of a collision between two vehicles just south of Lac la Hache on Highway 97.
Investigation revealed that a marked Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement (CVSE) Chev Tahoe had been traveling north on Highway 97 when a southbound vehicle came around a corner and drifted into the northbound lane.The CVSE driver activated his emergency equipment and pulled over to the shoulder to intercept the vehicle.

100 Mile House RCMP responded to 77 complaints and calls for service. some highlights are below.
On April 10, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a complaint of a white GMC Sonoma driving northbound at a high rate of speed on Highway 97 near 83 Mile. The vehicle was located coming into 100 Mile House. The driver was pulled over in a parking lot after crossing the center line several times. The driver displayed symptoms of liquor consumption. An approved screening device was administered at roadside. The result was a fail. The driver was detained and returned to the 100 Mile House RCMP Detachment. Two breath samples were obtained from the driver of 220 and 210 mg%. Charges of Impaired Driving and Driving over the Legal Limit are being recommended to Crown against a 47 year old female resident of Langley.

100 Mile House RCMP responded to 86 complaints and calls for service. Some of the highlights are below.
On April 9, 100 Mile House RCMP located an abandoned 1985 Toyota pickup on Highway 97 at Highway 24 with an inactive plate. A query of the Vehicle Identification Number indicated that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of the lower mainland in October of 2011. The vehicle was seized and towed.
